I recently had the pleasure to help Brian with the design of a logo for his search engine optimisation business.
Brian needed a bold, clear and strong identity to start spreading the word about his SEO business. He needed an image that “spoke” for itself about what he does: bringing websites to the top of web searches.
After having an initial conversation about what he needed I got back to Brian with a detailed brief which we discussed and agreed to ensure what he wanted to achieve was clearly outlined.
I started with research, ideas generation and sketching of various concepts which I presented to Brian in the form of mood boards. I believe sketches are essential pieces to share with clients because they are expressions of pure concepts without aesthetic distractions. They are key to avoid wasting clients time and money on finished but meaningless visual so their value should never be underestimated.
At this stage I also shared with Brian three of the strongest concepts digitally developed for him to see the visual style these ideas could take. His favourite concept was there, so in this case it was straight onto the final stages…
Brian decided to go ahead with the design containing an arrow pointing up as he thought it was the concept that most clearly showed what he does. This concept was further developed giving options on typefaces and colour schemes which lead to the final logo.
The brief also included business card design, stationery and website design. You can have a look at them in my Stationery Design Portfolio Posts and browse his site on www.seobrian.co.uk
