Spring Colour Inspiration

Earlier this month I was lucky to enjoy the early Spring sunshine while up and about networking in Brighouse and visiting The Yorkshire Dales to meet up with a good friend of mine. Being a colour lover I was naturally fascinated by the vibrant yellow of daffodils at the side of the roads everywhere! making the city and countryside shine and bringing loads of  joyful energy. But why does yellow have this effect on many of us?

The yellow wavelength is relatively long and essentially stimulating. Yellow helps stimulate mental activity and activates memory. It has been scientifically proven that we remember better when reading  from a pastel shade of yellow paper ( Post-it notes being yellow is just a happy coincidence though:) and it also encourages communication. Psychologically, yellow is the happiest and most uplifting of colours and it is associated with energy, warmth and brightness.

Being  the most visible colour of the spectrum, yellow is naturally used in graphic design to highlight important information. In branding, it is an ideal colour for businesses related to innovation, ideas and creativity.

In this season of new beginnings, if you are thinking of starting a new business, a marketing campaign to advertise a new product or service and are after some “bright” branding, please do not hesitate to get in touch to talk to me about your ideas. I’d like to help your business shine!
Take a look at this video  from William Arruda to find out if yellow is the colour of your brand.
